Whoa! I took me a long time to update this blog. I have been busy lately with my life’s added role that is being a Mom.

My sister-in-law keeps on bugging me with her orders. She’s the one selling my products to her co-teachers.

Waah..I have more than one month to complete her ordered jewelries before the school starts. Hope I can do it on time…crossfingers..

>New Batch of Handmade Jewelries

Hi! It’s been a long while, I wasn’t able to post anything that I hand made the previous months. You’ve probably wondered what happened to my crafts? Well actually I’m still doing the same stuffs from time time but all my products we’re sent to my sister-in-law in ZC, she does the marketing for me in here school. 

Today after so many months I decided to send some of the jewelries that I have sent to my SIL, luckily I was able to take some snaps before sending it to her.

I did some earrings and bracelets for her. Next batch will be delivered soon, for the meantime I have to buy some materials first.

>Swarovski Crystals: How are they made?

Do you wonder how this very famous jewelry crystal ever made? Well, Swarovski Crystals do not actually occur naturally unlike other gem stones, instead they are man made. As a requirement in making crystals, they consist of 32 percent lead that allows the materials to withstand cutting and engraving. It was Daniel Swarovski who made the fomula for crystals in 1890.

Originally, crystals were composed of an alkali, silica and lime. Lead was then added to create a better quality crystal. The 32% lead content requirement is needed in order to maximize refraction.

Lastly, to achieve the look of the crystals, they are cut using the same precision-cutting process in which diamonds are cut.

And remember that, Authentic Swarovski Crystals are made only in Austria.

>Brighten Gold and Gems

Here’s another read from Good Housekeeping Magazine this time it’s how to brighten your gold jewelries and gems and stones attached to it.

Gold chains, pendants, gems can lose its glistening appearance through everyday wear. To bring up their bright image give your gold jewelries a bubble bath by pouring a few drops of mild dish soap into a small bowl of sodium-free seltzer water. Put the jewelry into a small strainer, and place it in the bowl to soak for about five minutes. Brush crevices using soft toothbrush. Return jewelry to strainer and rinse it under running water then dry with a cloth.

For costume jewelry, especially if stones are glued rather than set, dab a cloth into the bubbly solution and gently wipe smudges, then rinse with cloth dampened in plain water. Pat dry and lay the pieces upside down so that moisture won’t soak into the setting,

>Make Your Silver Jewelries Sparkle

>I have neglected this blog for some time now because I was so busy with my day job and wasn’t able to do any handcrafted jewelries for almost 3-months already. I just hope I will be able to do new pieces to showcase to my sister-in-law’s co-teachers at the opening of school year on June 2010. In the meantime, I want to share something about caring and cleaning your jewelries that I have read in an article written at the Good Housekeeping Magazine.

You can retain the shining moments of your favorite silver jewelries with no spacial products needed.

Tarnish is the enemy of silver jewelries. How about trying this methods:

1. For items that are merely dull, filmy or staring to discolor, mix a few drops of mild soap with warm water and dip in a soft cloth. Rub cloth wet with solution to jewelry, then rinse in cool water and dry using clean dry cloth.

2. For heavier tarnished silver jewelry, mix a paste of three parts baking soda to one part water. Wet the silver and apply the cleaner with a soft, lint-free cloth (don’t use tissue paper, this may scratch your jewelry). Work the paste into the crevices, turning the cloth as it gets gray. Rinse then dry.

Note: Don’t soak the silver, this will speed up the tarnish rather than removing it.

Simple cleaning tip you can try.

This is my blog about my handcrafts and creations and I’m enrolling this one to one of the coolest meme that I recently found the “Blue Monday”.

Sorry if I wasn’t able to post the BM badge yet, I got uploading errors on photobucket here at the office, I’ll do it tonight at home.

My first entry for BM is one the Holy Rosaries that my friend who’s in Qatar right now asked me to create, made of blue (sapphire) swarovski crystals and sterling silver. I sent this item to her together with 12 more items she requested, all are my creations too (yippee!).

My first entry for Blue Monday and more to go on the next Mondays to come.

>10 Things I am Thankful For

>I read about this game on one of the blog i visited it is about Ten on Tuesday. Every week the site owner a theme on anything on your Top 10, activities, things, movies, songs, situations anything under the sun and this looks fun so I decided to try.

The theme for today is “10 Things You are Thankful For”. Here’s mine…

1. God Almighty for bringing me in this wonderful world
2. Memories of my parents (My Mom died on March 2007 and 2 years after just last March 2009 my dad passed away too)
3. My very kind and loving husband
4. After the transition period of the company we worked for, my husband and I were rehired by the new management.
5. My entry level DSLR camera (an anniversary gift from my hubby)
6. I can do crafts especially handmade jewelries
7. I can play badminton competitively
8. Food trip and chatting after badminton games with friends and playmates
9. Coffee – because I can’t start my day without it
10. My neighbor’s wifi signal (since I don’t have an internet line yet)

I guess that’s it, the 10s I can think of this moment… there are still more…

>Ponpom Bracelet

Here’s a new addition to my creation’s list I nicknamed this one as ponpom bracelet. This item is made with 4mm bicone swarovski crystals bead together to form a ponpom balls. I strung the bracelet using 14k gold filled wires and added few 6mm bicone crystals to add effect.

So here it is.. a new purple & lavender ponpom bracelet…
